Palauan Mother of Pearl Vessel

Signed by master carver Osiik, a 20th century artist from Palau, most known for his story telling carvings in the 50s and 60s. The vessel features small circular pieces of Mother of Pearl/ Nacre inlay in an irregular pattern. Could be used as a tea vessel or for spices. Beautiful square dice like detail to the lid. 

Made on the island of Koror, possibly Ironwood due to the weight. Two small chips, one on the lid, one at the base (pictured). Signs of wear appropriate for age and use.
